Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Social activist Anna Hazare voiced his disappointment over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), expressing his dismay at Kejriwal's involvement in formulating liquor policies. Hazare, who previously collaborated with Kejriwal and advocated against alcohol consumption, stated, "I am very upset that Arvind Kejriwal, who used to work with me, raise his voice against liquor, is now making liquor policies. His arrest is because of his own deeds."
Kejriwal's arrest unfolded following the Delhi High Court's denial of interim protection against coercive action in connection with the excise policy case. In response, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers staged protests in various parts of India, including Punjab's Mohali and Delhi's ITO area, resulting in the detention of several AAP leaders and workers, including Delhi Ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi. Bharadwaj condemned the arrest, emphasizing the need for Kejriwal's access to legal representation and family, labeling the incident as an assault on democracy and suggesting a political motive behind the timing of the arrest.
